B Randeep, a 2006 batch IAS officer, assumed office as the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru district here on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) T Venkatesh handed over the charge to the new DC at the deputy commissioner’s office at 3.30 pm.
Randeep will replace C Shikha, who has been transferred as Commissioner for Social Welfare in Bengaluru, as Mysuru DC .
The DC said that his immediate priority is to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of Dasara. He said, “I am aware of Mysuru Dasara. I will discuss with the City Police Commissioner and other officials concerned about security arrangements during the festival and make sure it to be a grand success. I was witness to Dasara as a tourist, a couple of times, but now, being an organiser, I have greater responsibility and I will manage it in an efficient manner.”
Randeep said, as Mysuru is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home district, his responsibility is more as people expect more from the district administration and the DC. “I will make sincere efforts to solve the issues of the district. Mysuru is known for its tradition, heritage and culture and it takes little time to know more about it,” he said.
Randeep, along with his parents, offered puja to goddess Chamundeshwari atop the Chamundi Hill, before taking the charge.
