<p>Countdown has begun for a historical moment when dam built across Sharavathi backwaters connecting Ambaragodlu-Kalasavalli will be inaugurated on July 14 at 12 noon. The Sagar town is witnessing brisk preparations as a huge stage is being erected at Nehru grounds. Details are being worked out to ensure that the stage is strong enough to brave the heavy rains and people are not inconvenienced. Arrangements are being made to accommodate 5,000 people in the grounds and digital screens have been put up to relay the dais programme. </p><p>Besides, special welcome arches have been put up in the four directions of the dais and one could see flexes of political leaders in various parts of the city. </p><p>Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in view of the historical programme. Apart from two additional SP, there will be six DySPs, 22 inspectors, 35 sub-inspector, 60 ASIs, 276 constables, 300 home guards and three each platoons of KSRP and DAR. </p><p>BJP workers have sent programme invitation to each houses in the town and this has irked the Congress workers, who rue that the BJP workers have made it their party event.</p><p>However, State BJP Vice-president H Haratal Halappa remarked that this is a historical moment and everyone in the region must join as if it's their programme. It is not appropriate to politicise it, he said. </p>
