The number and type of allowances vary from state to state.</p><p>Siddarmaiah's salary excluding allowances would be Rs 1.5 lakh (post hike). The various allowances add up to make the total Rs 3 lakh per month.</p><p>Similarly, the MLAs will earn Rs 1.25 lakh per month, and receive area allowances of Rs 25,000, travel allowances of Rs 35 per km, and Rs 2,500 per day during assembly sessions.</p><p>Additionally, they are also allocated Rs 2 crore annually for constituency development.</p><p>The Karnataka Ministers Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill and the Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances (Amendment) Bill were passed in the Assembly without any debate, amid protests by the Opposition BJP whose members were in the well of the House. </p><p>“There is a considerable increase in the cost of living.
