Siddaramaiah blaming RSS to hide embarrassment: Shettar

Shettar said that the fight for reservation didn't start today and that religious and mutt heads of those particular communities have been raising those demands regularly

Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar on Saturday said that uncertainty over his leadership role in the Congress and his inability to attend programmes organised by the Kuruba community is forcing the Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Siddaramaiah to wrongly target the RSS and the BJP.

Speaking to mediapersons here, he said, "Siddaramaiah has been claiming to be the leader of the Kuruba community, and the AHINDA (a Kannada acronym for minorities, backward classes, and Dalits). However, he (Siddaramaiah) could not attend a recent convention of the Kuruba community, to which he was invited."

“To hide his embarrassment, Siddaramaiah is trying to find an escape route by blaming the RSS,” he said.

Shettar said that the fight for reservation didn't start today and that religious and mutt heads of those particular communities have been raising those demands regularly.

“There is a set procedure to accord reservation for any community, and the state government would follow the same by sending a report to the Central government,” he said, adding that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has written a letter to the Union government, which will soon take a suitable decision.

No decision on AIIMS in Hubballi-Dharwad

Refusing to react to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) unit in Hubballi-Dharwad, Shettar said, no decision has been taken yet regarding this.

"Let it first come to Karnataka, then the state government will decide where to house it," he said.
