<p>Bengaluru: The small traders’ associations, who had called for a protest on Thursday, have withdrawn their protest following an assurance by Chief Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/siddaramaiah">Siddaramaiah</a>.</p><p>On Wednesday, Siddaramaiah announced that the notices issued by the Commercial Tax Department to about 9,000 small traders will not be pursued and these traders will not have to pay up the tax arrears as said in the notices.</p><p>Siddaramaiah met many unions on Wednesday, before announcing the decision.</p>.Students unions may return to Karnataka. Flashback to their glory days.<p>“Our demand has been met. Many of us sell a variety of goods. While a few are exempted from GST, many others have 3% to 40% tax. But that was not considered while issuing the notice. However, the CM has assured that the notices will not be pursued further,” said Abhilash Shetty from the Karnataka State Association of Bakeries, Condiments and Small Enterprises.</p><p>The associations had called for a protest opposing the GST notices issued by the Commercial Tax Department to small-scale traders.</p><p>However, going ahead, the traders have agreed to register themselves with GST to ensure there is no more confusion in the future. </p><p>“We will also hold awareness drives and get our traders to register,” Shetty added.</p>
