Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar on Thursday stripped Assembly Secretary S Murthy of all administrative powers following complaints of his involvement in irregularities in awarding tenders.
The Speaker has ordered Murthy to handover all administrative files to his office with immediate effect.
“The Secretary shall henceforth look into only Assembly session duties while the session is in progress and attend to protocol duties,” Ramesh Kumar stated.
The office of the Speaker had recently received many complaints on Murthy’s involvement in irregularities in awarding tenders and purchases.
The Speaker had subsequently written to Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar to initiate steps to conduct an inquiry into those complaints.
