<p>Hubballi: For the last five days, some budding female lawyers of Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) near Navanagar in Hubballi are facing eve-teasing while returning from their campus to hostels in the evening.</p><p>According to a female student of the University, five to six ‘Road Romeos’ sit on a bench on the road connecting the education block and hostel at around 9:00 pm and tease the girls.</p><p>A couple of days ago, a drunkard came too close to a girl and tried to undress himself, resulting in the girl running in fear. On Wednesday, some miscreants in a car tried to catch hold of a girl’s hand and drag her. However, she managed to escape unhurt. </p><p>“Stalking, catcalling and whistling at girls has increased of late,” said another student.</p><p>Multiple students of the university complained that no concrete action has been taken, though they brought the issue to the notice of the hostel warden. On the contrary, the girls were blamed for their “inappropriate dress” and “carelessly speaking over the phone” while returning to the hostel.</p><p>A male student of the university is said to have raised a complaint with Navagnagar Police Station on Wednesday, following which three lady constables visited the hostel and “created awareness” among the girls.</p><p><strong>‘Not under my purview’</strong></p><p>Hostel warden M Parvathi said she received a complaint regarding this on Thursday morning and brought it to the notice of the higher-ups. “The female students haven’t lodged any official complaint with the university or the police. As the incident happened on the main road and not in the hostel, it does not come under my purview,” she said.</p><p><strong>‘No complaint received’</strong></p><p>APMC-Navanagar Police Station Inspector Samiulla said they haven’t received any complaint from the students, and they have been regularly patrolling the area.</p>
