The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday vacated the stay granted on the proceedings against 19 government officials who were booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Justice John Michael Cunha passed the order on an interlocutory application (IA) filed by B N Jagadeesha, the counsel representing ACB for vacating the stay. The stay was vacated on the grounds that a notification was issued by the government on March 30, 2016 conferring the power of the ‘police station’ on all deputy superintendents of police (DySP) under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Justice Cunha refused to extend the stay sought by the petitioner’s advocate and adjourned the hearing of the petitions.
