<p>Mysuru: Thousands of devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangama in T Narsipur town, Mysuru district, as part of the three-day 13th Kumbha Mela, on Monday. The mela is being held at the confluence of Rivers Cauvery, Kapila and Spatika.</p>.<p>Devotees, along with their family members and friends, visited the Triveni Sangama, popular as the Prayagraj of South India, in huge numbers. They offered obeisance at Sri Agastyeshwara Temple and also offered prayers at the temples of Sri Gunjanarasimhaswamy, Sri Chowdeshwari and Sri Hanumantheswara on the banks of the rivers.</p>.Kumbh, Ganga, Jamuna, Basanti... 12 babies born at Maha Kumbh hospital.<p><strong>Naduhole Basappa</strong></p>.<p>The rituals began with Anugne, Punya, Ganahoma, Poornahuti, Abhisheka and Mahamangalarthi at 9 am at Sri Agastyeshwara Temple. Seers of various religious institutions (mutts) were ferried in a boat, to Sri Naduhole Basappa Temple in the middle of the Sangama.</p>.<p>There, seers Someshwaranatha Swami of the Mysuru branch of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Shivanandapuri Swami of Mysuru branch of Kaginele Mutt, Jayendrapuri Swami of Kailasananda Mutt and Buddha Swami of Tiruchi Mutt offered Ganga Puja and sprinkled the ‘holy’ water on themselves. Then, they worshipped Sri Naduhole Basappa, amid the music of ‘mangalavadyas’.</p>.<p>The seers hoisted the flag at 1 pm, to initiate the Kumbha Mela and then, the devotees started to enter the waters at the Triveni Sangama, for a holy dip. Dharmika Sabhe was held in the evening and seers of various mutts participated.</p>.<p>The state government has released Rs 6 crore for the Kumbha Mela, held once in three years.</p>.<p><strong>Ganga Aarti today</strong></p>.<p>A Dharma Sabhe will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, the second day of the Kumbha Mela. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to participate in the religious meet while seers of various mutts, like Suttur seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami, Adichunchanagiri seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami and Ganapati Sachchidananda Swami of Avadootha Datta Petam will participate in the rituals, during the mela and also in the religious meet. At 4 pm, the sadhus will enter the Triveni Sangama area. Aarti to the river will be performed on the lines of Ganga Aarti of Varanasi at 7 pm, by the sadhus.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The auspicious time for the holy dip (Pavithra Punya Snaana) has been scheduled between 9 am and 9.30 am - Meena lagna - and 12 pm and 1 pm - Vrushabha lagna - on February 12, as part of Magha Poornima. Holy waters from seven rivers would be brought and mixed with the waters in Triveni Sangama.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikantha Reddy, Superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardhan and Assistant Commissioner K R Rakshith supervised the arrangements.</p>
