Tighten security at places of worship, Minister tells police

Addressing the meeting of senior district-level officers here on Wednesday he directed the police to provide police security to all the places of worship in the city.

The minister said there are complaints against circle inspector Khan and DySP Rajanna that the officers are concerned more about their own security than the public and they also unnecessarily attack people.

Reacting to this, officer Malini said that she is aware of the complaints about the officers. They have been instructed not to cane the public but to submit a chargesheet whenever necessary, IGP said.

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena, Superintendent of police Dr Tyagarajan, tahsildar Dr Nagaraj, Begli Surya Prakash, CMC member V Prakash and others were present at the meeting.

Later the minister visited the temple and appealed the people to maintain peace and harmony in the city.

Those responsible for the incident will be brought to book irrespective any religion, the minister said.

Condemning the incident, CMC member L Khaleel suggested that district administration should take measure to install CCTV camera at all the places of worship. He demanded that the miscreants be arrested at the earliest.

Chalapati, Govindaraju, CMC members Madhusudhan Kumar, V Prakash, Rajesh, Somashekhar, Jaffer, Nayaz and others were present on the occasion.
