There are 3,500 vacancies and the recruitment is being done after a gap of nearly five years.<br /><br />Applying<br /><br />The aspirants apply online or offline and once they come for selection every step of the process is videographed and computerised results are given on the spot to the disqualified candidates.<br /><br />“The rules of the selection process have been amended last year. For instance the height has been increased from 168 cm to 170 cm to qualify. Earlier, a KSRP commandment would be in charge of recruitment process. Now it is of the rank of a DIG who is in <br />charge. The whole process is very transparent. The minimjum qualification is SSLC.<br /><br /> The first thing a candidate is told is that merit is the only criteria for selection,” said DIG Head Quarter-2 and in charge of KSRP recruitment Syed Ulfath Hussain, at the City Armed Resereve Police grounds in Mysore. <br /><br />Nearly one lakh candidates have applied and in Mysore alone there are 10,500 aspirants. Every day 500 candidates are called, out of which nearly 300 to 350 turn up. “Some days more than 50 per cent qualify and on other just about 40 per cent qualify,” said Hussain and added the next round of selection will be held in Shimoga.<br /><br />In Mangalore for instance the selection went on for just a week with about 2,300 appearing and 900 qualifying, he said.<br /><br />If a candidate qualifies then he will be called for a written test which will be held in six districts in the State. There is no viva voce for the post of the constables. However, the same test holds good for the post in the KSRP or in IRB. The selection is simultaneously going on in Belgaum where DIG KSRP Dr Ravindra Prasad is in charge of recruitment.<br /><br />Woman batallion<br /><br />Women are being recruited into the police force in large numbers. However, in KSRP in spite of the presence of a woman batallion, the women are not being recruited.</p>
