<p>Two women passengers were killed and eight others injured, when the Mumbai-bound Secunderabad Duronto Express derailed at Martur railway station about 15 km from here in the wee hours of Saturday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The accident occurred as soon as the weekly AC train entered the Martur station situated on the Mumbai-Secunderabad-Chennai route. As many as nine coaches of the train went off the track and one of them fell on its side while the rest were tilted. The train was at a short distance from the Kalaburagi station when the accident occured.<br /><br />The deceased have been identified as Jyothi (46) and Pushpalata (28) who were travelling to Pune from Hyderabad by the ill-fated train. The mutilated bodies of the two were brought to the district general hospital for post mortem.<br /><br />The injured, including a couple, have been admitted at the district general hospital. They have been identified as: Laxmi (50) , Bhaskar Rao (45), Abdul Ashraff (24), Rajiv Ranjan Rai (30), Manik Reddy (60) and his wife Yadamma Reddy (40), Ramakrishna Reddy (40), and Srikant (24) of Redagaon village in Narayanpet taluk of Medak district, Telangana. Except Srikanth, all others are the residents of Hyderabad.<br /><br />Abdul Ashraff, a young Navy officer trainee has lost his right leg below the knee joint. The exact reason for the accident is not yet known. Barring the derailed coaches the rest of the train moved on to its destination.<br /><br />Break down trains from Solapur, Daund and Wadi were rushed to the site with senior railway officials overseeing the rescue, relief and restoration work. The main line was restored to rail traffic at 5.40 am. No major obstruction was caused for the routine train movement.<br /><br />The NEKRTC on the instructions of the administration operated as many as 40 buses from Martur to Kalaburagi to ferry the passengers stranded at Martur railway station. The railway authorities swung in to action losing no time for rescue, relief and restoration work.<br /></p>
