Forwarding the memorandum to SP Dr Ravikumar here on Tuesday, Komu Sauharda Vedike President Rajashekhar said the victim was assaulted by the activists of Hindu organisations before producing him to the Shankarnarayana police station alleging that he was involved in illegal cattle trafficking. Following which Shetty was admitted to nearby hospital and later was taken to KMC Manipal where he succumbed to the injuries.

However, Shankarnarayana police have not gone in depth into the case intentionally to safeguard the interests of the culprits of the Hindu organisations, he alleged.

Cattle rearing is the livelihood of the farmers and it is not uncommon that the cattle are sold under some inevitable circumstances. The acts and claims made by the so called Sangh Parivar and other Hindu organisations activists is absolutely nonsense.

The cattle trade is done by all community men and it is untrue that only Muslim community people are engaged in the trade, he added.
