<p class="title">Opposing the negligent attitude of officials at Dundalli Gram Panchayat, women who came to attend the meeting, took the officials to task and marked their opposition by boycotting the meeting.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The incident took place in Dundalli Gram Panchayat auditorium near Shanivarasanthe on Tuesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Women had taken part in the meeting in large numbers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When the Panchayat Development Officer started speaking during the meeting, the women wanted to know specific information about the MGNREG scheme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When the officer failed to provide the information, leaders of the village Muttegowda, Dinesh and Vasanth posed their objections and urged for the meeting to be postponed. Following this, Social Auditing officer M M Vikram agreed to postpone the meeting.</p>.<p class="bodytext">However, the women opposed the official’s careless attitude and as a mark of protest, boycotted the meeting.</p>.<p class="bodytext">There were anganwadi teachers, school teachers and water supply valve-men in the meeting.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Rural people were not invited to the meeting.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Among the 13 members of Dundalli Gram Panchayat, only D P Bojappa and C J Girish were present.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The villagers said that the remaining 11 members had been absent following the alleged horse-trading by BJP and Congress leaders for the election to the post of president and vice president to be held on February 12.</p>
