<p>More than 200 clinical biochemistry students from various parts of the state took part in the event held at Rajendra auditorium at JSS medical institutions campus. <br /><br />The participants were sensitised on new research and trends in the field of biochemistry. <br />Dr D M Vasudevan, director (technical) Agappe Diagnostics and former dean of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin spoke on inborn errors of metabolism and the recent trends in diagnosis of the disorder. <br /><br />Students of biochemistry should keep themselves updated on the recent advances made in the area, he said. While, Dr D N Rao, professor of biochemistry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) dwelt on the ways in which nano technology can help in diagnosis of diseases and support vaccine development. <br /><br />Dr M V S S T Subba Rao, associate professor of biotechnology at JSS medical college provided information on tools for the identification of therapeutic targets and developments of the therapeutic agents. <br /><br />The students had an interaction with the experts on the subject. Dr Anurag Agarwal, scientist, Translational Research in Asthma Institute of Genomics, Integrative Biology, New Delhi also shared his experiences the potential of OMICS in respiratory disease. <br /><br />Earlier, B N Betkerur, pro-chancellor of JSS university inaugurated the seminar.
