Youth dies after well collapses

A 30-year-old youth was killed and three others suffered injuries when a 15-ft deep well collapsed during an excavation in Aloor in Kundapur taluk on Thursday morning.

Police have identified the deceased as Gopal Mogaveera. The body of Mogaveera, trapped under the mud, was extricated with the help of local residents.

The work on the well, owned by one Sathish Hegde of the village, had begun a year ago. But due to heavy rains in the region, the work had been stalled.

Sathish Hegde had again engaged Gopal Mogaveera and his men to dig the well and construct a parapet around it.

A case is registered by Gangolli police station.
