MP CM dares Congress to file affidavit supporting Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura dispute

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday challenged the Congress to submit an affidavit in the court supporting the demand to build a temple of Lord Krishna at the disputed site in Mathura.

"Congress leaders say that Lord Ram is theirs too...but we know how Congress tried to belittle the Ram Mandir movement," he said at a seminar organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party here on the 50th anniversary of Emergency.

While a temple was built at Lord Ram's birthplace in Ayodhya following a Supreme Court's decision, the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah case of Mathura is going on in the court, he said.

"If the Congress has the courage, it should come to the court and submit an affidavit saying that after the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, a temple of Lord Krishna should also be built at the disputed site in Mathura," said the chief minister.

Yadav also accused the Congress of insulting democracy, and claimed that the party did not allow then prime minister Manmohan Singh to air his views during the UPA regime.

Speaking at the seminar, BJP MP and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi cited the atrocities faced by opposition leaders during the Emergency.

Even before imposing the Emergency in June 1975, the Congress government led by Indira Gandhi had started systematically gaining control of different systems, 'inspired' by the Nazi ideology of German dictator Adolf Hitler's administration, he said.

The Congress always questions the functioning of the Election Commission after losing elections and tries to make a mockery of democracy, Trivedi said.
