Lavasa project: Bombay HC dismisses PIL seeking probe against Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and Supriya Sule

In March this year, Sharad Pawar filed an intervention application opposing the PIL, claiming Nanasaheb Jadhav had made similar allegations time and again.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has rejected a PIL seeking a CBI probe against NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar, his daughter Supriya Sule and his nephew and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for alleged illegal permissions granted for the execution of the Lavasa hill station project in the Pune district of Maharashtra. 

Lavasa in Mulshi tehsil in Pune district is India’s first hill station that was developed post-Independence - in the the picturesque Sahyadri ranges of the Western Ghats. 

The PIL was filed by a lawyer Nanasaheb Jadhav. 

The petition has failed to show any legal provision whereby a court, while exercising its civil jurisdiction, can pass a direction to the police to register a FIR, noted a division bench of the Bombay HC comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad. 

Jadhav said he had filed a complaint with the Pune police commissioner in December 2018 seeking a probe against Pawar and others, but the police took no action.

In March this year, Sharad Pawar filed an intervention application opposing the PIL, claiming Jadhav had made similar or same allegations time and again.
