<p>At least 18 deaths were reported within 24 hours at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, formerly known as Aurangabad, amid more than 30 deaths within 48 hours at Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital in Nanded.</p><p>The incidents involving the two big government hospitals in Marathwada have shaken Maharashtra. </p>.As death toll in Nanded hospital mounts, Maharashtra govt orders probe. <p>The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has raised concerns about the hospital in Ghati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government led by Eknath Shinde.</p><p>“Eighteen deaths were recorded at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar between 2-3 October in a span of 24 hours,” reports stated. </p><p>However, among these 18, four of them were pronounced dead on admission.</p><p>Among the 18, two patients died due to heart attacks, while two others were suffering from pneumonia. Another three deceased patients were suffering from renal failure and another from liver failure. Deaths were also reported due to road accidents, poisoning, and infection after appendix burst. Two preterm babies died on the sixth day of treatment.</p><p>Reacting to the development, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar said that the hospital deaths are a serious issue. “It is sad that the government has not yet woken up to the situation,” Pawar said. </p><p>“It is a serious issue,” said Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray.</p>
