<p>New Delhi: The <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/bombay-high-court">Bombay High Court </a>has issued a notice to the Mumbai police and Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel in view of the plea filed by stand-up comedian <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/kunal-kamra">Kunal Kamra</a>, who is facing an FIR for his “traitor” jibe aimed at Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.</p><p>The petition has now been posted for April 16.</p><p>The petition came up for hearing before Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice S M Modak on Monday.</p>.Relief for Kamra: Madras High Court extends interim protection till April 17.<p>Patel has filed the complaint against Kamra after which the FIR was lodged by the Mumbai Police, which is being investigated by the Khar police station. </p><p>So far, the Mumbai police has issued three summons, however, Kamra has failed to appear. </p><p>The Madras High Court had granted interim protection to Kamra till 7 April, which has now been extended till 17 April. </p><p>Kamra faces an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 353(1)(b) (statements conducing to public mischief) and 356(2) (defamation).</p><p>"Issue notice to the respondents (Mumbai Police and Patel). They shall take instructions and respond to the plea,” the Bombay High Court said. </p><p>Senior counsel Navroz Seervai appeared on behalf of Kamra, who is based in Puducherry. </p><p>"This is not a case of murder. It is an FIR that has stemmed from a stand-up comedy show. He (Kamra) is ready to cooperate with the probe but through video conference," Seervai said.</p><p>“The authorities are not keen to record his statement but they want him to be present here physically. His physical presence must not be insisted upon till the present petition is heard. This is not some murder or a serious offence… It is a comedy show, a video of which is available with them,” pleaded Seervai.</p><p>Patel has filed the complaint with the MIDC police station, which registered an FIR.</p><p>Two FIRs registered against the comedian at Nashik Rural and Jalgaon have also been transferred to the Khar police along with the MIDC police station FIR.</p>
