Man avoids calls thinking it to be spam, later finds out it was from Amazon recruiters

In a recent incident, a man who kept avoiding calls from a US number, assuming it to be a spam call, later to his surprise finds out that the calls were from Amazon recruiters.

The man shared his unfortunate experience on social media site Reddit, which garnered a lot of attention.

In his post he said that he kept avoiding calls from an unknown international number, thinking it could be a part of some international fraud scheme.

Upon receiving calls more frequently, his curiosity made him check the number on TrueCaller app, which is when he came to know that recruiters from Amazon were trying to reach out to him.

His social media post read, “For a month there was a US number trying to reach me and I was not picking up, because it was international call thinking it was spam. When I checked Truecaller it was Amazon recruitment team.”

Further writing about the chronology of the events, the man wrote, “ 7th Feb I got a call didn't receive.”

He then got a call again on February 24, talking about which he wrote, “I got a call, received it by mistake and cut instantly and didn't listen if they ever spoke. After that I got 2 calls instantly. Thought the spammer was jobless and went to check Truecaller.”

Realising the blunder that he had made, he tried calling back on the same number, however, the calls were not connected. Clueless and frustrated about how he could get in touch with the recruiters, he added, “Not able to call back - says call not monitored and ~1 rupee is cut as fee.”

The post gained a lot of attention on social media, wherein one user sharing his experience wrote, “In my experience, every reputable recruiter will send you an e-mail along with calls. If they were unable to reach you, they should have mailed you, especially since it's an international call.”

Another said, “Don't worry. They will call back or send you email.”

“Same thing happened with me for a UK company. I didn't get a call back later. The vacancy got filled,” wrote another .

However, sharing an update on the same viral post, the man wrote, “Actually got a call again today, it is amazon and it was asking for my free slots.”
