<p>Guwahati: Curfew was clamped in two villages in Kamjong district of conflict-hit Manipur on Wednesday after unidentified miscreants set several houses belonging to Kuki residents in two villages on fire, triggering fresh tension.</p><p>According to Kuki organisations, several houses in Gampal and Haijang village were set on fire on Wednesday morning. They suspected that miscreants belonging to the Naga community were behind the act. </p><p>"The heinous attacks have terrorised innocent Kuki civilians and once again imperiled the already fragile peace and stability in the region. It is deeply alarming that such acts of terror persist under the watch of the government of India, which has repeatedly failed to uphold its constitutional duty to maintain law and order, particularly during a crisis that demands urgent, sensitive and just intervention," said a statement issued by several Kuki organisations. </p>.Manipur: 4 militants, 2 Arambai Tenggol members arrested.<p>An order issued by Rangnamei Rang Peter, the district magistrate of Kamjong said the houses were set on fire at around 9am by unknown persons. It, however, did not say the reason that led to the arson. "Such disturbances could lead to serious breaches of peace, endanger public tranquility, and pose risks to human lives and property," said the order for curfew. </p><p><strong>Separation Day:</strong> </p><p>In what may anger the Meiteis and the government, Kuki organisations in Kuki-dominated Churachandpur district has decided to observe May 3 as the day of "separation," to mark two years of the Meitei-Kuki conflict that erupted on May 3, 2023. </p><p>The day-long programme will be organised by Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum, a forum of Kuki-Zo organisations in Churachandpur, where the conflict had first erupted.</p><p>Kukis have remained separated from the Meitei-dominated valley since then and have been demanding a "separate administration" in the form of a Union Territory in order to end the conflict. Manipur has remained under the President's Rule since February 13 and efforts are underway to end the conflict. </p>
