<p>Guwahati: The President's Rule brings a ray of hope and paves the way for political dialogue, a Kuki organisation in conflict-torn Manipur said on Thursday. </p><p>Welcoming the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/manipur/presidents-rule-imposed-in-manipur-3404578">President's Rule</a>, Ginza Vualzong, spokesperson of Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), said the central rule was preferable than a change of Chief Minister. With the President's Rule, I believe the groundwork to end violence will begin, which will pave the way for a conducive environment for political dialogue," Vualzong said. </p><p>ITLF is a forum of Kuki organisations in Churachandpur, a Kuki-dominated district, where the conflict started on May 3, 2023. More than 250 people have died and over 60,000 others displaced since then. Kukis and Meiteis have remained physically divided with central forces manning the "buffer zone" between the Meitei-dominated Valley and the Kuki-dominated districts. </p><p>ITLF and several other Kuki organisations have been demanding a "separate administration" comprising the Kuki-dominated districts such as Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi and Pherzwl. They say a "separate administration" with a legislature is the only way forward to end the conflict. They also demanded Biren Singh's resignation as the CM for initiating talks. </p>
