Report on authenticity of audio clips on Biren Singh's role in Manipur violence ready: Centre tells Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday told the Supreme Court that a forensic report on the authenticity of leaked audio clips alleging the role of former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh in the ethnic violence in the state was ready and would be filed shortly in a sealed cover.

A bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar took the Centre's submission into record.

A lawyer for the Centre told the court that the report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) will be filed later by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.

The bench fixed the matter for further hearing in the week commencing May 5, on the request by the counsel.

A plea was filed by the Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust (Kohur) seeking a court-monitored investigation into certain alleged leaked audio clips which allegedly implicate former Manipur CM, Singh for instigating the ethnic violence in the State.
