<p>Ten days after NIA DSP Tanzil Ahmed was sprayed with bullets, the police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked the case.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The police said that “domestic dispute” had led to the killing of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer.<br /><br />Speaking to reporters in Bijnore, UP Police Inspector General, Bareilly range, Vijay Kumar Meena said that two persons, including a close relative of Ahmed, have been arrested in this connection though the main culprit is still absconding.<br /><br />Meena said that the conspiracy of Ahmed’s murder had been hatched by Rehan, who was the nephew of the NIA officer’s brother-in-law, while the shots were fired by Muneer, a wanted criminal. Rehan and another conspirator Jainul have been arrested but Muneer continue to elude the cops.<br /><br />According to the cops, Rehan nurtured a grudge against Ahmed as the latter had not helped him in bailing him out in some criminal cases despite his pleadings. Rehan, whose name had also cropped up along with Muneer in a case of loot of Rs 91 lakh at Dhampur in the district a few months back, also suspected that Ahmed might “inform” the cops about his involvement.<br /><br />Rehan was also angry with Ahmed following a dispute over the sale of a shop, the police official said. Meena said that Rehan, who was also present at the wedding ceremony, followed Ahmed after he left the wedding venue in a car with his family. <br /><br />Rehan was driving the motorbike while Muneer opened indiscriminate fire at Ahmed around midnight killing the NIA officer on the spot.<br /><br />His wife had sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. His two children, however, survived the attack.<br /></p>
