<p>A senior official of the RITES Ltd was arrested on Saturday by the CBI on charges of receiving a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from an infrastructure company representative.</p>.<p>K Venkateshwara Rao, the Group General Manager (Civil) at RITES Project Office in Secunderabad, was apprehended while he was receiving the amount reportedly from Tamil Nadu-based KVR Infrastructure Ltd's project manager Shankar, a CBI spokesperson said.</p>.<p>According to the CBI, Shankar was deputed to deliver the amount.</p>.<p>Rao had reportedly demanded the money for clearing pending bills to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore out of a total contract value of Rs 11 crore of the company, it said.</p>.<p>Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused and the hotel room of Shankar. The accused will be produced before the court on Sunday.</p>.<p>A case has been registered under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy of Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.</p>
