<p>The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Wednesday succeeded in installing its candidate and former TNGO leader V Swamy Goud as Telangana Legislative Council Chairman through secret ballot instead of the usual consensus and voice vote. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The 40-member strong Upper House had just six TRS members, but the party’s strength went up to 15 following recent defections. <br /><br />The strength of Congress, which had clear majority, was reduced to just 12, while the TDP has four seats, MIM and PDF two each. <br /><br />There was high drama in the House before the Chairman’s elections, with Congress floor leader D Srinivas opposing the election process.</p>
