<p>At least two militants and a soldier were killed in a fierce gun battle in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s frontier district of Kupwara on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Police said two unidentified militants and one Army personnel were killed in an encounter with police and Army’s 30 Rashtriya Rifles in Handwara, 80 kms from here.<br /><br />“During the intervening night of September 24 and 25 police along with 30-RR launched a search operation in village Haril Manzpora, Handwara. The militants fired upon the search party which was retaliated triggering an encounter in which two militants were killed,” a police spokesperson said in a statement. He said jawan Sandeep Kumar of 30 RR was also killed in the encounter. Police claimed to have recovered two AK 47 rifles and six AK magazines from the slain militants.<br /></p>
