In a video that has now gone viral on social media, a female cop in Uttar Pradesh was seen questioning girls who are accompanied by boys. This sparked curiosity in the public, as she called families to verify the relationship between the girls and boys.

The cop, later identified as Manju Singh, is reportedly the in-charge of the Women’s Police Station in Mau, according to a report in India Today.

The clip showed a group of siblings visiting a Sheetla Mata temple, and amongst them was a boy. The girls informed that the boy was their brother, but the female cop proceeded to question the boy's relationship with the girls.

She went forward to enquire with their family on a call, who confirmed that the boy was the brother of the girls. She asked them to call their parents, and went ahead to ask each sibling their names and their relationship to each other.

She mentioned to the parents that the girls should not be roaming around on their own. In addition to that, Singh advised the parents that a guardian should be present with the girls. This has sparked a discourse on the internet, on how a brother is not being considered as a guardian.

She continued to stress on how girls should not be seen wandering without a guardian.

The siblings had come from the Ghazipur district, and the interrogation proved that there was no cause of concern.

Manju Singh informed that she was present at the temple, along with her team, under the Mission Shakti campaign. It is to ensure the safety of women, and she questioned the girls as a preventative consideration. She spotted the minor girls in the temple's premises, which led to questioning the girls, as reported by India Today.
