Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday sought to liken the recent violence in Sambhal over a court ordered survey of a mosque in which four persons were killed and scores others injured, to the demolition of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya by Mughal emperor Babar and the attacks on the Hindus in Bangladesh.

Adityanath also referred to the defeat of the BJP candidate from Faizabad (Ayodhya) Lok Sabha seat in the recently concluded LS polls and said that though prime minister Narendra Modi fulfilled his promise (construction of the Ram Temple), the people of Ayodhya did not reciprocate.

‘’Ayodhya did not do justice with him (Modi),’’ he remarked.

‘’Remember what had Babri and his men done in Ayodhya 500 years back......the same happened in Sambhal and also in Bangladesh,’’ Adityanath said while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Ramayan Mela’ in Ayodhya.

The chief minister said that some people in the country, who talked about these things, had accumulated wealth in foreign countries.

‘’They will flee if there is any crisis here and leave others to die,’’ he remarked without elaborating.

Adityanath also launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and said that the socialists of the modern times had become dynasty.

‘’Today’s socialists can’t live without patronage of the criminals....these people do politics in the name of socialist ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia but they do not follow his ideals,’’ he added.

The ‘Ramayan Mela’ is an annual event showcasing the deeds of Lord Rama besides the cultural diversity of the country. Artists from across the country take part in the Mela.
