<div>PMK’s standoff with the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu intensified on Friday, as its youth wing leader and former Union health minister in UPA-I regime Anbumani Ramadoss was arrested by the state police, close on the heels of PMK’s founder-leader and his father S Ramadoss’ arrest in the wake of some violent incidents linked to PMK’s Youth Festival recently.<br /><br /><div>Anbumani Ramadoss, the new face of the OBC Vanniyar-dominated PMK, was picked up from his T Nagar residence here, police said. The former Union health minister was arrested for allegedly making an inflammatory speech at another Youth Festival in Mamallapuram, 60 km from here, last year, and for violating the time code by speaking beyond the permitted limit of 10 pm. “They have lodged a case against me for a non-bailable offence allegedly committed a year ago. but the PMK will meet it legally,” Anbumani told reporters after he was remanded to judicial custody for two weeks by the jurisdictional magistrate at Tirukazhukundram. He has been lodged in Puzhal Central Jail near Chennai. <br /><br /></div><div>“I am happy to go to jail for my people,” said Anbumani Ramadoss, terming the arrest of him and of hundreds of PMK cadres as an “act of political vendetta” by the J Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK Government.<br /><br /></div><div>PMK’s founder-leader S Ramadoss, now lodged in Tiruchirappalli prison, has been slaped with two more cases, though he got bail in the first case on Friday, along with about another 3,630 jailed PMK cadre, including senior functionaries like MLA and Vanniyar Sangam Chief Kaduvetti Guru, PMK President G K Mani and former MLA Tirukachchur Arumugam.<br /><br /> Meanwhile, Anbumani Ramadoss' arrest has again led to sporadic incidents of violence in Tamil Nadu, in the in north in particular, as enraged PMK activists continued road blockades and smashed buses at some places. Over 300 buses, including some private ones, have been badly damaged in incidents of stone-pelting, allegedly by angry PMK cadre protesting the arrests. DMK President M Karunanidhi has urged the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to release both the Ramadosses and all arrested PMK functionaries so that a conducive atmosphere may be created. </div></div>
