<p>The ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal – vocal at the national level about the violence in Manipur – will bring in a motion on the issue, in the state legislative assembly in the current session which began on Monday.</p>.<p>“(Around) Eighty days have passed, and what’s happening in our country, in a state, is shameful, and sad. The violence – that has continued – has to stop at some point, he said.</p>.<p>On being asked that several incidents of crime – including ones against women – are being compared with the situation in Manipur, the minister added that the situation in the state concerned cannot be compared this way, and in a country with such a large population, incidents can occur, discussion, however, is needed.</p>.<p>While the Opposition parties under the banner of I.N.D.I.A have already been speaking in unison on the violence, and a team of chief ministers from these parties intends to visit Manipur, the Trinamool’s women’s wing, he said, has already taken up the issue.</p>.<p>A senior BJP member in the assembly told <em>DH</em> that the party will take a stand on the development once information on such a proposed motion is officially documented and availed. The BJP, that covers the Opposition space in Bengal, has been pointing out the incidents of atrocities, including against women, in the state. The situation in Bengal, as pointed out by the Opposition, is being compared to that of Manipur.</p>
