A woman was allegedly gang raped by three men at knifepoint in a house in Uttar Pradesh and later dumped in south-east Delhi’s Kalkaji area. One of the suspects was arrested, but he said she is trying to entrap him due to a property dispute, police said on Thursday.

The 42-year-old victim, who hails from Rajasthan and runs a boutique in Jaipur, told police that she was acquainted with Dilip Verma for the past six years. They used to meet at religious places in Mathura, Agra and Vrindavan.

“The woman claims that she had left her Jaipur home on December 21 to visit a temple in Vrindavan. She met Dilip during the tour, and he asked her to accompany him while he was returning to his home in Delhi,” a police officer said.

“She agreed, after which they left Vrindavan in Dilip’s car along with a woman and child on Wednesday.”

She said the other woman and child were dropped midway after which Verma took her to an apartment in Delhi. At the house, Verma allegedly began to misbehave with her at knifepoint and threatened her of dire consequences if she raised an alarm.

The woman alleged that she was beaten up by Verma following which his two friends joined him. The trio allegedly raped her, and then took her in a car and dumped her at a deserted place at around 10 pm on Wednesday.

The woman approached a passerby who told her that she was at Kalkaji after which she informed her friend Kajol about the incident. Kajol, a Lajpat Nagar resident, made a call to a police control room.

“The victim was taken to AIIMS for medical examination and a case was lodged at Kalkaji police station over positive report,” the officer added.
Sources said Verma was arrested in Agra, and raids are being conducted in Mathura, Agra, Faridabad and Vrindavan to apprehend his friends.

Police are also investigating Verma’s claims. It has also come to light that she had a property dispute with a man named Vikas Arora, against whom she had filed a case in UP.
