JOIN USA labourer was electrocuted, and eight others suffered injuries when electricity passed through while repairing a high tension line at Malavoor near Bajpe on Wednesday.
According to the police, the deceased is Ganesh Gowda (55), a resident of Tenka Edapadavu in Moodbidri. Bajpe Police have filed a case against Mescom officials and contractor Tanu Electricals owner, on the charges of negligence, which led to loss of life.
High tension wire
It was said that the high tension electric wires that supply electricity to Mangaluru International Airport were dangling and new poles were being erected on the stretch. The power supply was disrupted on the stretch.
When a new electricity pole was being erected near Malavoor bus stand at 11.15 am, it came in contact with a high tension line. As the labourers fled, the electricity pole also fell on Ganesh, killing him on the spot.
