Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday alleged that the attack on BJP president Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata on Tuesday took place in the wake of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s declaration that she will take revenge against the BJP inch by inch.

"Recently, Mamata didi openly declared that she will take revenge inch by inch. Within 24 hours after she declared her agenda the attack was conducted on Amit Shah,” Modi said while addressing a rally in the Taki area of North 24 Parganas district.

Accusing the chief minister of resorting to falsehood over the alleged attack by the BJP workers on a group of youths near Calcutta University on Tuesday during Shah’s roadshow, Modi said that the university students are exposing the lies of Mamata and her associates.

The prime minister also said that the Tuesday’s incident not only showed that Mamata is afraid of the BJP wave in Bengal but also exposed to which level she can stoop to.

"Didi is afraid of the BJP wave in Bengal. Yesterday (Tuesday) the country saw to which level she can stoop,” Modi said.

Throwing a direct challenge to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, Modi said that he is not a person to get scared so easily and her threats will have no effect on him.

“Do you (Mamata) think Modi will be afraid of your threats? Modi is not among those who get scared so easily. Your abuses and threats will be futile against me,” he said and accused Mamata of destroying the culture of courtesy of Bengal.

The prime minister also said that the BJP will not only get majority on its won but the electorate of Bengal will ensure that the party wins more than 300 seats.

“Didi listen to me carefully. Till the fifth and sixth phase all the surveys have indicated that the BJP will get majority on its own. Bengal will ensure that BJP gets more than 300 seats,” Modi said.

At another rally at Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas district, the prime minister said that Mamata’s threats against the BJP will be futile as its workers “walk with death in their palms”.
