JOIN USPolitical activities have picked up in the district after JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda announced that his grandson and son of PWD Minister H D Revanna, Prajwal Revanna, will be fielded as party candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Hassan.
A group of JD(S) leaders has decided to meet Deve Gowda and appeal to field Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, from the Lok Sabha election from Mandya. Members of Taluk Panchayat and City Municipal Council will meet Gowda soon and press for their demand. The members of Nikhil Fans’ Association too have extended their support.
Meanwhile, Nikhil has been visiting Mandya regularly since three months.
He was seen with Abhishek Gowda, when actor-politician Ambarish’s body was brought to Mandya. He had also met the family members of JD(S) leader Thoppanahalli Prakash, after he was murdered, and offered condolences. Hence, there is a rumour that he might be fielded as the party candidate from Mandya.
Audio release function
A JD(S) leader said, the film, ‘Seetharama Kalyana’, starring Nikhil, is being released on January 25.
The audio release function is being held in Mandya on January 22. The function will also project Nikhil as the party candidate and his name will be officially announced in the first week of February, he
said. B C Sridhar of Nikhil Fans’ Association said, the chief minister will return from Singapore on January 3.
“We will meet him and appeal to announce Nikhil as the candidate,” he said.
