Chethan to be seen next in 6 crore project

Last Updated 27 April 2018, 03:22 IST

Actor Chethan Chandra is excited as he is working on the biggest film of his career. The actor, who was seen in movies like ‘Samyuktha 2’, ‘Jaathre’ and ‘Plus’, feels that his recent project ‘Prabhutva’ will change things for him. In a candid conversation with Tini Sara Anien, the actor talks about his role and more.

What is ‘Prabhutva’ all about?

The movie is directed by Ranganath and produced by Ravi Kumar and Shivkumar. The movie talks about politics, showcases a beautiful family drama and is an action-oriented movie. The story revolves around what happens if a people’s representative does not do his role effectively and how people will respond to it.

Tell us about your role.

I will be playing an angry young man in the movie. I have two different shades in the film -- I play distinct characters in the first and second half. In the first half, I am seen as an immature person but I am shown as a serious and mature person.

Did you do any intense homework for your role?

I gained 20 kg for my role in the second half as I am cast with serious actors and I could not afford to look lean in their presence. The look has a lot to do with looking mature.

What are the highlights of the film?

The realistic subject, my powerful role, beautiful lines for my character and the size of the project are its biggest highlights. The film has everything I love, including eight-fight sequences by different stunt masters. Not even a single shot in the movie is static, all shots are in movement. This will also be an added advantage. This will be the biggest project of my career -- it will be a Rs 6 crore project.

The film has a big cast. Who are the other actors in the project?

The movie will include many versatile actors like Nassar, Adi Lokesh, Sharath Lohitashwa and Abhirami. I felt very lucky to be around such big artistes. All of them helped me to take my character to great heights and I feel blessed to have worked with them.

How much of the shoot is left?

Thirty percent of the project is still left. We were waiting for the rainy season to arrive for a few particular shots. We wanted to make sure that the film will come out after the elections, as the film is about democracy, people’s rights and corruption, so we are hoping it will progress like that.

Trivia:

‘Prabhutva’ was shot in and around Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hassan.
A song sequence will be shot in Switzerland.
Of the four songs in the movie, one will be a theme song based on politics.
