Hindustani music for Dasara

Suswara Balaga’ is an organisation which hones young artists by training them in Hindustani style of music at ISRO Quarters, Jalahalli. The students of the organisation will be performing at Chamundi Hills, Mysore, Matha Annapoorneswari Tapokhetra, Kanakapura Road and Shri Mookambika Temple, Kollur during this week, on the occasion of Dasara, along with Guru B B Kulkarni, who is the founder of Balaga.

Kulkarni is a vocalist but also plays tabala, flute and harmonium. He has spent nearly 50 years of his life dedicating himself to Hindustani music. He was trained under the tutelage of Narasingarao Kulkarni, Bijapur, Pandit, Basappa Herkal, Shrishila Ballur, Basavaraj Bendigeri, Gowrang Kodikal, and vocalist Chandrasekar Gawai of Bellary.

Kulkarni has accompanied great masters of Hindustani music like Somantha Mardur, Madhav Gudi, Nagarajrao Hawaldar, to name a few. ‘Suswara Balaga’, has been organising concerts for the last 30 years at Bangalore, Bellary, Mysore and Hubli
