Piano recital

The Oxford and Cambridge Society and IMAS are holding a piano recital by Chris Williams on November 25, 7.30 pm at the Alliance Francaise.

In tune

Academy of Music is presenting a music festival till November 28 at the Chowdiah Hall. Renowned musicians will be presenting classical music concerts on these days. On November 25, N Ravikiran will present a Carnatic instrumental piece on chitravina.

On November 26, Nagamani Srinath and Shruti Sadolikar Katker will present a vocal jugalbandi.

On November 27, Ranjani and Gayatri and on November 28, T M Krishna and Party will delight the audience with Carnatic vocal performances. On November 28, K K Murthy Memorial Chowdiah Award 2010 will be presented to Pandit Jasraj and Nagamani
Srinath.

Young bands

B Flat will present Bicycle Days and Infinitime Live, two young bands, on November 26, at 8 pm. They write original music and present it with great stage presence.

Vocal treat

Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is celebrating its silver jubilee year. As part of this, on November 27, 6 pm, Vidwan K N Renganatha Sharma will present a vocal recital. Mullaivasal G Chandramouli will be on the violin and Palladam R Ravi will be on mridangam.

There will be a ‘musical discourse’ in Kannada — Haridasa Chintane-Sankirthane — by Vidwan Vidyabhushana from December 2 to 5, 6 pm. Raghuram will be playing the violin, H S Sudhindra will be on the mridangam and S N Narayanamurthy, Phanindra Bhaskara and S Srishylan will be on the ghatam. The venue will be Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Purandara Bhavana, 8th Main Road, HAL Second Stage (behind Indiranagar Club).

‘Barefaced Liar’

Barefaced Liar will perform live at Hard Rock Café, St Mark’s Road on November 25, 8.30 pm.The band is heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, SRV, Hendrix and Metallica while leaning towards a more modern sound in the style of Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. The band members are Akshay Chowdhry (vocals, guitars), Sumant Balakrishnan (guitars, vocals) and Dushyant Purohit (bass).
