The news of the birth of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s first child spread like wildfire. It may not have been a serious ‘breaking news’ but for fans of both the actors, it was a reason to smile.

Metrolife spoke to fans across the City, who eagerly waited for the ‘good news’ and were delighted to hear that it was a baby girl.

While news channels broadcast the news as a brief announcement, many websites took the announcement as their lead story. There were many others who received SMSes about the ‘good news’ of the celeb couple. Social networking and micro blogging sites were not too far behind with congratulatory messages being posted on the status.

Jaikumar Chandrashekar, managing director, Better Future, India, got the news on the Dominos Pizza Facebook profile. Being an Aishwarya Rai fan, he thought he would share the news with his friends on Facebook. “I am happy for Aishwarya, finally she will experience life beyond movies. And I am sure that in a few years her daughter will be a
junior Aishwarya in the making,” he says.

Even Abhishek Bachchan fans were not too far behind. Prarthana Hemanth, a student, first saw the news on a website. “Being a huge fan of Abhishek, I was definitely curious to know what was happening. As soon as I saw the news I was thrilled and excited as my birthday too falls on a 16th,” she gleams.

It was the sense of curiosity that had many glued to the sites and news channels. Shubha Hegde, a housewife, first caught the news on the television. “After reading reports on the strict rules that the media had to follow for covering the birth of Aishwarya’s child, I was curious to know how much importance media will give to the news. I’m not really a fan of their’s, but there was a sense of happiness when I heard the news,” she adds.

Just a day old in the world, the baby has managed to grab so much attention, one can only wait and see what the future hold for this ‘Baby B’.
