Techie kills self after being diagnosed with cancer

A Bengaluru-based 25-year-old techie committed suicide in Gurugram in Haryana on Monday night after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the police said.

Geetam, a native of Bhiwani district in Haryana, checked into a hotel in Gurugram on Monday evening. When she did not respond to a phone call on Tuesday, the hotel staff informed the police. The police broke open the room and found her hanging.

Police said she may have committed suicide on Monday night.

The police said they found a suicide note which states that Geetam killed herself because she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was unable to deal with the situation.

Geetam had come to her village to meet her family during Diwali. On Monday, she left Bhiwani to meet her father who works at Gurugram. After visiting him, she booked the hotel room.

The body has been handed over to Geetam's parents after postmortem, said Narendra Khatana, SHO, Sector 56 police station.
