JOIN USThe Congress and the BJP on Monday accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of spreading anarchy by resorting to street protests against the Union Government to press his demand for suspension of four police officials.
The Congress said the “countdown” has begun for the manner in which the people view the Aam Aadmi Party. “Anarchy is no substitute for democracy. Participative democracy does not mean anarchy,” Congress spokesman Meem Afzal told reporters here.
The BJP said the AAP demonstration, led by Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues, was “anarchic and a gimmick” and wondered whether the party formed the government to “wreck” the system from within.
The BJP also viewed the demonstration as a “mock-fight” with the Congress and demanded to know how Kejriwal planned to discharge his duties as chief minister while continuing with the protests for 10 days.
“A wrong message has gone to the people with the step that Kejriwal and his party has taken.. I think their countdown has begun. People do not like this,” Afzal, the Congress spokesman said.
Another Congress spokesman Bhakt Charan Das said a chief minister should have faith in the system. “Even if he does not believe in the system, he should change it instead of shouting and making allegations in the streets or through media. He is trying to divert his responsibility.”
However, the Congress said it would not withdraw support to the Kejriwal government.
Congress leaders said that these protests have been inconveniencing the people, who would themselves realise that they had reposed their faith in the “wrong person”.
BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said such an agitation, which is taking place near Rajpath where the Republic Day rehearsals are on, affects the aam aadmi (common man) and both the Congress and AAP were responsible for it.
