The Congress on Friday launched a social media campaign attacking the Modi government for its "failure" to address agrarian distress, rein in fuel prices and growing unemployment even as the BJP geared up to mark its four years in office.

"If anything defines four years of Modi sarkar, it is empty sloganeering and false promises. The government is running on propaganda," AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said here.

The Congress also released a short video highlighting the difficulties faced by the common man on account of rising fuel prices, lower interest rates on small savings, lack of jobs and the effects of demonetisation.

"The sheen is off the Modi government. People have seen through the fake promises," the video states.

Gehlot has issued directions to party leaders to organise protests and hold press conferences in state capitals and district headquarters "exposing" the failures of the Modi government.

Congress social media teams were also highlighting these "failures" using hashtags #4SaalDeshBehaal #BasEkAurSaal.

As the BJP-led NDA marks four years in office, the Congress is also coming out with its own sector-wise report card on the government to counter Modi's claims of 'Saaf Niyat, Sahi Vikas'.

The frontal organisations of the Congress — Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal and National Students Union of India — will hit the streets in the national capital to mark the 'Day of Betrayal'.

"Modi promised the moon and delivered nothing. Four years of Modi government has been a story of betrayal, duplicity and of deceiving the people of this country," said Randeep Singh Surjewala, in-charge of AICC Communication Department.
