Cricket fan severs his tongue for Team India

In a horrific incident, a cricket-crazy youth offered his tongue as sacrifice at a temple at Vellore district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday seeking divine intervention for Team India’s victory over Australia.

After going to the worship place, 21-year-old Sudhakar placed his severed tongue before the sanctum sanctorum and offered prayers for India’s victory. Hearing about the incident from the temple priest, friends and relatives admitted Sudhakar to a government hospital.

According to the police, upset over the Australia cricket team's 328 runs against India, the youth went to the extreme step by cutting two inches of his tongue with a knife.
Hospital sources said that though Sudhakar's condition is stable, his tongue was severely damaged. Sources added that plastic surgery is being planned since the people who brought the patient did not bring the severed tongue.  While admitting the victim, the relatives told the hospital authorities that Sudhakar was climbing a papaya tree holding a knife in his month.

When he slipped, the knife cut his tongue. However, after sometime, the victim’s friends told the doctors that it was a case of self-inflicted injury. The police are yet to register a case.
