BJP gave money for perpetrating violence: WB CM Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged that some people are colluding with BJP for money to create trouble in West Bengal.

Challenging the Centre the Chief Minister also said that if the Citizenship Act and NRC are to be implemented in Bengal it has to be done over her dead body. She was addressing Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers at the conclusion of a protest march against the Citizenship Act in Kolkata.

“Please do not indulge into violence. I have evidence that some people are colluding with BJP for money and are creating trouble. We don’t support this...They have to do a CAB (Citizenship ACT and NRC over my dead body. Otherwise, it can’t be done in Bengal.,” said Banerjee.

The Chief Minister urged people not to set trains and post offices on fire and instead protest hold democratic protest against the Citizenship Act.

Banerjee said that TMC’s agitation will continue until the Citizenship Act and NRC are withdrawn.

As for the ongoing violent protests against the Citizenship Act in West Bengal, the Chief Minister indicated that Centre had asked the state government whether it wants CISF, Army, and BSF to be deployed in Bengal.

“We were asked whether we need CISF, CRPF, BSF. I told we don’t want them as our police is capable of handling the situation,” said Banerjee.

She dared BJP to topple the state government. The Chief Minister made it clear that even if her government is toppled she will not surrender.

“I am categorically saying that we will not accept NRC and CAB in Bengal. What will you (BJP) do? Topple our government? Do it. But we will never surrender,” said Banerjee.

She alleged that some political leaders from outside the state have become BJP’s friend for money are instigating people to set some trains on fire to malign Muslims.

“There are some leaders outside Bengal who are BJP’s friend. They work for BJP and have got a lot of money from them. They are telling people to set some trains and fire and malign Muslims. We appeal to everyone not to listen to them,” said Banerjee.
