Union minister Babul Supriyo has stirred up a controversy by threatening to break a man's legs at an event for the differently-abled in West Bengal's Asansol, his Lok Sabha constituency.
The BJP leader was invited to the 'Samajik Adhikarita Shivir' to distribute aides and assistive devices to the differently-abled people.
In a video circulated on social media, Supriyo is seen felicitating a government official at the event and suddenly gets distracted by a man who is continuously moving among the crowd.
The BJP MP snapped at the man, saying: “What happened to you? Any problem? I can break one of your legs and can give you a crutch for free.”
The singer-turned-politician then ordered the man to shift to a different place and asked his security personnel to break the man's leg and hand him a crutch if he tries to move again.

In a video tweeted by India Today, Supriyo is heard saying: "People know me, I have my own way of handling things, I am not going to give any clarification regarding this. It was a joke and if people want to stir up a controversy with it they can but they must also see the kind of work I am doing for the people... I am not going to give any clarification."

This is not the first time the BJP MP has been involved in a controversy. In March, Supriyo was booked for threatening people who shouted slogans against him when he visited Asansol after the communal violence following 'Ram Navami' processions across the state. Supriyo had then said: "Skin them alive".
