Heavy rains on Thursday worsened the flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, where two children were washed away in Sonitpur district.

The Brahmaputra is flowing above danger level in several places causing inundation IN nearly 15 districts of Assam where three lakh people have been affected.

The Central Water Commission (CWC) issued a warning after the Brahmaputra crossed the warning level in Guwahati. The river is flowing above the danger mark in Upper Assam’s Neematighat and Dhubri in the state’s lower regions.

Sources said water waves of Jarasar river washed away two children in Balipara in Sonitpur district, revealing that the odds of finding them alive were diminishing with each passing hour despite search operations by the NDRF team. If confirmed, the deaths could increase flood related tolls by four.
