K Chandrasekhar Rao was sworn in as chief minister of Telangana for the second consecutive time here at a simple ceremony in Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Known for his staunch belief in the tradition he took oath exactly at 1.24 pm a time selected by Yadadri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple head priest Lakshminarasimha Charya. Governor E S L Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to KCR in Telugu and also Mahmood Ali, in Urdu.

“The Abhijit Lagnam will prevail for one and half hour. We have selected a time at the peak of the very powerful Lagna for oath taking of the CM. This is can be termed as Bahubali of Muhurtas,” Narasimha Charylu said. He swears that the lagna will make the state prosperous and peaceful. The time selected by the pundits also bestows “Adbhuta Raja Yogam” to Chief Minister KCR all through his career.

The ceremony took place on Thursday due to the delay in publication of gazette notification by the Election Commission. Initially, it was planned that the oath-taking ceremony will take place on Wednesday itself, as the “Thithi” happened to be Margasira Panchami and the auspicious time was 12.49 pm.

Accordingly, the TRS legislature party meeting was planned on Tuesday night to elect KCR as the leader. However, by the time the last results were declared it was too late and the TRSLP meeting was held on Wednesday.

Party sources say the next round of oath taking will take place next week in which 16 more MLAs will take oath as ministers in KCR’s cabinet. It is said that KCR is on a serious exercise in picking up his cabinet colleagues giving due consideration to their interests, caste and experience in the past cabinet.

It also believed that the four ministers defeated in the elections are likely to be kept out of the government formation. KCR rejected the idea of taking them into a cabinet and then getting them elected to the legislative council. The four ministers who lost the election were A Chandulal, P Mahender Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao and Tummala Nageswara Rao. Assembly speaker Madhusudhanachary was also defeated. The first time MLAs who were tipped to be included in the cabinet include Balka Suman and S Niranjan Reddy.
