Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of carrying out a misleading campaign about Kerala.

In a statement on Friday, Pinarayi said that "Modi's repeated statement that cases were being slapped against those who use the name of God in Kerala" was baseless.

"Can Modi cite any one such case? Modi's act is unbecoming of a prime minister," he said.

Modi on a couple of occasions alleged that the Left-front government in Kerala was slapping cases against those using God's name. He made the allegation at an election meeting at Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

The chief minister said that cases were registered only against those who unleashed violence and not for using God's name.
