Majlis to foray into Andhra Politics, to support Jagan

The Telugu Desam Party President Nara Chandrababu Naidu who has campaigned against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the settler-dominated areas of Telangana has made new enemies while his campaign failed to yield results. The TRS and its ally the All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) have assured Naidu that they will make it impossible for him to win the 2019 general elections.

The Hyderabad based political outfit will be entering the political scene in Andhra Pradesh for the first time for the ensuing elections in 2019 in that state. The Majlis while canvassing against the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), will support YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress party. The TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao refusing to take Naidu’s tirade against him has warned that he will be meddling with politics in AP just like Naidu did here.

“Isn’t it a norm that you give a return gift when you go to a party? We will also do the same in AP so that he will know our impact there. Otherwise, people will think that people of Telangana have no culture,” KCR said addressing his first ever press conference after winning elections. He also mentioned that he will present a gift to Naidu that he could never forget.

Asad Calls Naidu a Chandrudu

What surprised everyone is the Majlis’ chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s challenge to Naidu although in a lighter vein but posing a serious threat to Naidu’s minority vote bank. “Mr Chandrudu I forgot you, Chandrudu I am coming to AP, you be ready,” Asad said addressing a campaign meeting in the old city.

Just like KCR, his friendly party MIM also wants to pay Naidu in the same coin. “He came here and addressed public meetings. In 2019 I will go to AP and you will see what will be the impact. He will not be able to win two 2 seats out of 25 Parliament seats in AP. The anti-incumbency wave in AP is going to sink his TDP. He has spent crores in Telangana elections,” Asad said in an interview.

Recalling his friendship with YS Jaganmohan Reddy particularly his visit to the Chanchalguda Jail when Jagan was incarcerated there, Asad said “I am going there (AP). Jagan is my friend and I am going to support him”. However, the MIM chief didn’t say whether his party will be contesting or his role will be limited to campaigning against Naidu.

“The Muslims of AP are different from that of Telangana. There is no communal divide here like Telangana ruled by Nizam. Muslims are with Naidu and the KCR-Asad-Jagan-Pawan Kalyan-BJP team will fail in AP,” TDP MLA Jaleel Khan said.
